Right-click context menu "Alt+D, Alt+S"

When right-clicking on the desktop or a panel, the context menu has “Alt+D, Alt+S” and similar as shortcut hints for certain entries, but I don’t really understand how this should work.

Alt + (any letter) triggers the mnemonics so I’m not sure how “Alt+D, Alt+S” should be interpreted. For example, pressing Alt+D will open Display Settings and not one of the other options.

with desktop focus (click on the desktop) you can use these shortcuts to access the functions shown in the context menu.

Alt+D, Alt+S => hold the ALT key and press D then S in quick succession.

Alt+D, S => hold the ALT key and press D then release the ALT key and press S immediately after.

these actions require the focus be on the desktop and the not with with the context window open.

i never use them.

That’s quite a weird feature, but I guess the fact that it’s there doesn’t hurt much because it’s unlikely to be triggered accidentally.

i think it’s a hold over of days gone by, i’m not up on all the lore.
