Hello! I have been encountering an issue on a laptop I’ve been refurbishing, where on a fresh install of Neon, going to sleep and leaving it causes most visuals to be scrambled in the manner depicted in the photo
This is a fresh install with nothing installed outside of Wine and Grub Customizer, but the issue appeared on first boot too. I also had to install Neon through the safe graphics mode, as booting into the normal live image would just fail.
Edit: forgot to add this issue does not appear in anything that’s purely text (like VT or just shutting down), it only happens inside Plasma
i do not recommend grub customizer
did you set up swap for hibernate operations?

I get the same effect sometimes on my desktop PC when resuming from hibernate, but it doesn’t seem to be a problem with the setup of hibernate:
- The machine hibernates OK (the power goes off and the subsequent resume works as expected apart from the display).
- Sometimes, not always, turning the display off and on resolves the problem. Not an option on a laptop of course.
- Apart from the display, the system seems to be working. I can login via ssh, and I can also shut the system down using <Ctrl+Alt+Delete> followed by <Enter>
I can only guess it’s a display driver issue.
The default swap is only 512MB in size, ill try making a new, bigger one and see if that fixes the issue
Never mind, i was wrong, now its just inconsistent, ill need to dig deeper, ill try to upload logs
also with nividia cards you need to enable the module that will save the video ram to disk during hibernate.
it took some doing on my old machine, now i have radon graphics and it’s not an issue.
