Screen energy saving despite app inhibiting sleep and screen locking

Currently using Stimulator which shows the text “Stimulator is currently blocking sleep and screen locking” in my Battery and Brightness tray app. However my monitor still dims and turns off at the time set in my Power Management > Screen Energy Saving.

Is this supposed to happen? And if so is there any API an app can use to additionally prevent screen dimming and screen energy saving?

Does anybody have any idea?

It’s possible that it’s actually only blocking screen locking and the message is inaccurate, which would explain screen dimming and turning off. This would be 418433 – App inhibitions should list what exactly they are inhibiting.

There is no user-facing method to override an app’s ability to block these things. That’s tracked by 423745 – Add the ability to override apps that are inhibiting power management.
