Screen Flicker - Brightness adjusting?

Hello KDE Community,

im new to Linux, KDE and this Forum so sorry if im in the wrong Category.

I use KDE Neon with Plasma 6.5 and since i updated to 6.5 my screen flickers. I tried disabling night-light, maxed the screen brightness, disabled background video and effects but nothing seems to work.

It looks like its constantly adjusting the brightness, and its reacting to keyboard inputs. The more i type the more it flickers. Especially strong flickers in Firefox with black background.

I have 0 idea what the problem could be and i didnt find anything about it (probably because im new). Would love some support here :confused:

Thank you very much!

hi, welcome.

this issue sounds like one i had with plasma 6.1 and i thought it was fixed by now.

# to keep brightness levels from changing, disable brightness control slider in system tray
systemctl --user edit plasma-powerdevil.service
# add these two lines to the file that opens
[Service]
Environment=POWERDEVIL_NO_DDCUTIL=1
# save and logout
# to reverse, just delete the directory created at
~/.config/systemd/user/plasma-powerdevil.service.d
# add this package for stand alone GUI control of monitor settings
ddccontrol

Maybe you enabled adaptive sync and your display just flickers with that? It’s a pretty common issue with it.
