Screen lock system doesn't respect the settings of apps that are blocking screen sleep and lock

Applications like Firefox or telegram or games paused or being played by remote control since they do not use keyboard and mouse, even with this warning saying that the APP in question is “currently blocking the screen sleep and lock” the plasma or the system part of plasma is not respecting this rule, it sucks to be able to watch a big video movie or pause a game for a while and it simply blocks the screen after a while, this has been happening since plasma 5.27, and this bug happens on 2 of my laptops with Arch Linux and Fedora and on my sister’s laptop, all 3 have completely different hardware with different brands

does anyone else have this problem?

Has also been happening to me recently, as I have been using my controller to play certain games. It’s as if it doesn’t account for the inputs of a non Keyboard+Mouse input device (such as a gamepad).

Has also been happening to me recently. I’m on Plasma 6.1 though.

I’ve only actually noticed it the past couple of weeks and so far with one particular game, but I also setup a new user account for sofa gaming that runs Steam in Big Picture Mode on login and have only played that game on it, so I can’t say whether it’s to do with the game or to do with the new user account.

I don’t recall it ever happening on my normal user account, but there I have most of the sleep/lock settings turned off, except for dimming the screen after five minutes. But on the new user account, the dimming would also happen despite controller input, whereas on the old account I’ve never seen dimming kick in while watching or playing something full screen.

There’s the long-standing bug report #328987 for the fact that controller input doesn’t prevent sleep, but I am wondering whether the app’s blocking of sleep/lock not being respected is actually a different bug.

Are you on Wayland or X11?

There’s also #471909 about Plasma ignoring a specific app’s use of the idle-inhibit protocol, I guess that’s the same thing? And there’s #450543 which as far as I can tell seems to complain about the opposite, that Firefox is inhibiting sleep but the user wants it still to sleep?

This problem has been fixed, but it still continues with open games, when I pause a game and leave it for 5 minutes the screen is locked, that’s the least of it but still annoying.
