There is a built-in shortcut F9 that shows/hides the places menu on the left of Dolphin. However, I did not find any keyboard shortcut that would change the focus to that menu. In addition, I did not find a way of adding such one that would suit the purpose.
It will be better if there is a way to add a shortcut for that or the developer team thinks of adding one in the near future.
That’s a rather an unusual workflow I think, that could be done as it won’t impact others negatively.
Do you have a default shortcut suggestion? (This needs to not conflict with existing ones) We have Ctrl+L for the location bar for instance, maybe Ctrl+P.
Please report the bug for the feature request. It won’t require much work to implement, still someone will need to volunteer to do it.
This was actually on my todo list mostly because people in KDE’s accessibility group said how useful it is for them to have keyboard shortcuts to jump to frequently used components of an application. I have implemeted it now after seeing this thread here.
It will be available in the Dolphin 24.12 release, which is the December 2024 KDE Gear release. After that it is up to distributions and their schedules to decide when it will be available as an update.
