I like your icons, they’re unusually iconic (for what goes around nowadays). If it would not make a good logo then it will not do for an icon either; the 1st requisite being IDENTIFIABILITY, the 2nd ‘even in a minimum of pixels’, the 3rd ‘even from a distance beside the highway’, the 4th 'in 1/10 of a second '. Anything else makes a great smear but never an icon 
For the rest I prefer very classic and conventional, here’s a slackware wallpaper
