Slow lock screen

When I lock the screen by closing the lid of the laptop or selecting “Leave” > “Lock” from the launcher it first takes over 10 seconds for the screen to be locked and then, when I reenter the password, the dots representing the keystrokes are delayed.
However, when I start /usr/lib/kscreenlocker_greet directly from the command-line it locks right away and while entering the password there’s no delay.

I would appreciated any suggestions…

I forgot to mention: this is on X11. In the meantime I have also tried a Wayland session and to my surprise I do not see similar slowness…

That’s great… I’ve seen a few similar things this week folks using nVidia lately… though the latest issue logging in was kernel related… but you didn’t bore us with any relevant details. or boring `inxi -Fxzc0’ outputs…

Suggestions - try creating a new $USER, log in and try again… but from what you’ve told us, the solution is obvious.

Wayland works fine.

If only it were that simple!
THAT particular issue does not happen with Wayland, but there’s a slew of others e.g. X11 autostart items not starting. And just today when I had an external projector attached with unified output, the selected GUI element was not under the mouse cursor, but offset from the cursor position.

Wayland seems to be the way to go, but “works fine”… just not yet.

Haha well ‘works fine’ but in a much more limited fashion… I still use X11 sometimes just for the joy of using mouse gestures instead of working out keyboard shortcuts 'n stuff.

Also because I remember shapes and drawings… much better than keys.
