[SOLVED] Is there any way to reset monitor configuration?

Hi. I’m running KDE Plasma 6.2.3 with Wayland. I have a dual monitor setup, one monitor being a TV. Everything was working great, but there was a very minor quirk whereby I always had to turn the second monitor (TV) on after the computer otherwise the resolution was incorrect.

Not sure exactly what I did, but last night I managed to get my computer in a state in which if the TV is plugged in at all, both monitors go blank with “unsupported signal”. The moment I unplug the TV, I get my primary monitor back.

I did experience this a couple of times with KDE Plasma 5, and whenever I did, I would delete ~/.local/share/kscreen, reboot, and everything would be fine again.

I have noticed this directory no longer exists on KDE Plasma 6, but there is a ~/.config/kwinoutputconfig.json file. I have tried deleting this JSON file and rebooting, but this doesn’t solve my issue.

If there any way to simply reset the display (monitor) setup to default?

You need to delete the file while you’re not logged in, otherwise KWin saves the configuration it loaded on startup into it when you log out.
