Some latte-dock features? For KDE Plasma 6.1 (My thoughts)

I’m fine with Panel Colorizer for the moment as I use more stuff from it, but where is the link to it to try it out?

Actually, you need to search for it in the Add Widgets when editing Widgets.

I completely agree.

I often wonder why it wasn’t in the first place? The devs must’ve used latte-dock it at some point and seen the value it brings to the desktop experience on KDE.

I keep checking back regularly, hoping this is implemented sooner or later, but so far it’s not looking hopeful.

One can only keep hoping.

I’d waited a while to move to plasma 6, and finding latte-dock didn’t work was a bit anxiety inducing at first as my go-to for several years. The modern plasma 6 panel work reasonably well enough (meh) as a replacement, but I find myself constantly missing latte-dock animations and all the little quality of life things it brought. Before I used cairo-dock for a decade and more, and both were welcome little improvements to linux along the way.

While the new built-in dock style panels in kde were better than the prior generation that more got in the way, I feel like they missed a chance to take what latte-dock did (or cairo/glx-dock and others) to simply integrate/improve upon them for a dock experience with the “floating panels”.

I saw latte-dock was mostly abandoned now, but I’d be inclined to pay into have it ported to plasma6, or even simply absorbed into KDE panels as features to be more sustainable long-term.
