Sound Blaster Audigy 2 - no sound

I just installed Neon for the second time on this computer and I have no sound coming out of my speakers. The first time I installed Neon, this morning, sound was working just fine. Clicked on the Test button and all 5 speakers and subwoofer worked fine. I then installed the wrong video driver and couldnt’ get back into the system so I wiped and reinstalled. This time I have the correct video driver installed but now have no sound.

The OS recognizes the card. When I go to Sound in System Settings, the card is shown “EMU10k2/CA0100/CA0102/CA10200 [(Sound Blaster Audigy Series](SB0350 Audigy 2 ZS) Analog Surround 5.1”. In the profile I chose Analog Surround 5.1 Output + Analog Mono Input (just like I did on the first install). However when I click test and click on each of the speakers, nothing comes out.

On the computer I have the volume set to 100% and on my speaker system (Logitech 5.1 Surround System) set nearly at the highest level.

I rebooted to the Live USB and sound works fine there so it’s just an issue with this installed on disk version.

I used to have this card and it sometimes happened that the channel volumes were reset to 0. Or just one that controlled all others (called something like DSP). So I would open some mixer application, for example alsamixer in the terminal, use F6 to select the soundcard and check all the channel volumes to see if they are OK.

Thanks for the info JLP. However, this wasn’t the issue. I checked the Balance button in the Sound config and they were all at about 50%. Since I hadn’t gotten the sound to work, I didn’t do anything on the system (install more apps) so I decided to say screw it and I reinstalled Neon. Sound is working now. Don’t know what was wrong but it’s not wrong now.
