Indeed, IMO this UI lacks the “je ne sais quoi” to be a perfect 10. However I find myself struggling to articulate exactly what is wrong with it or how to improve it.
Ahh yes, the “I have too many devices” thing. OP has 5, I have 35. I could talk about this for hours… I almost did, so I ctrl+x’d this post down to a manageable state
It sure is! There have been a lot of improvements to the whole kde+pipewire stack, especially in the past few months. It’s really come a long way. A good effort by the devs, it always seems to fly beneath the radar in the news. I see you, nerds <3
It functions for me
Well, this should be automatic. wireplumber will store the connections that you make, in your apps, in Plasma, in qpwgraph, etc, and next time, when devices are added or removed, or applications start or end, it will restore the connections you made last time. You can find these files in ~/.local/state/wireplumber.
Additionally, applications can select devices themselves, so that you can store your device preferences in the app.
Yeh, it mostly should “just work”. What’s the experience you have?
