I am trying to achieve what you see in the picture above. I am able to take a screenshot of Synaptic Package Manager using Spectacle without that pop up window circled in red but not with it there.
I am using my keyboard key called Print Screen to take screenshot, pressed once, and saved automatically. Thank you in advance
When trying to capture context menu’s, I generally tend to launch spectacle GUI and set a delay of maybe 6 seconds before executing (generally ‘rectangular’ or ‘Active Window’)
it’s possible using delay and the shortcut keys with spectacle set to always remember the region and to use that last mode.
you might need to take a practice shot (or two) to get the rectangular region set up in advance to capture where the popup will be.
then you trigger spectacle with the shortcut, quickly conjure up the popup during the delay period, and then when the screenshot happens it should capture the popup.
you may need to check the box that says include popups and mouse cursors as well.
Thank you I was able to capture the sub menu (context menu) that pops up by following both your methods which appears to be the same? Who do I assign the solution?
The short cut Meta+shift+print did not capture the context menu, I had difficulty even getting it too capture without the context menu there, works but not always. I am pressing the windows+key shift + print screen
prtsc just opens the spectacle GUI and does nothing else, this way i have access to the GUI buttons and can use the delay timer.
the other shortcuts just do the capture and save it to my default location
the launch spectacle shortcut will launch spectacle and take whatever action is specified in the configuration under the general tab, but i find that less useful than either using the shortcuts directly or using the GUI so i have complete control
@prado you can add a new delayed-spectacle shortcut like described here.
I actually think you’d benefit from my idea of having an official spectacle shortcut for delayed launch, but you can do it nonetheless with a Command shortcut from the KDE keyboard settings.
