I am quite sure this is my fault someway but speecht to text now freezes at “exporting audio”.
I removed all I could find (files and folders), re-installed the latest Flatpak.
Still no go.
Now, the same thing happens using the AppImage.
It looks like normal but nothing really happens. On aborting I get the message that the program is unresponsive.
Okay, not sure why but the problem solved itself apparently.
At least in the Flatpak. Thanks to everyone for reading and thinking with me.
If I ever find out what the problem/solution was I will post it here.
If you like you can try. ‘Speech Note’. It got some good voices for text to speech. And many language too. It can read ebooks, if you first convert to text via calibre. Realy happy with this little diamond.
First blind guess would be that it deadlocked or logjammed on something you fed it. If it does happen again and you’re up for it, you could try breaking into it with gdb to try and get a sense of what it’s stuck on - but I don’t think we provide debugging symbols in the appimage, so you’ll probably end up down the local build rathole.
Or at least someone eventually will if this sort of issue continues
In Speech Note there are a looooooot of voices. of various quality. For English I use these, which I find the best voices.
english british (piper Jenny medium female)/ en
english british (piper cori high female)/en
english (piper kusal medium male)/en
You are probably on the right track. Unfortunately I’m not that savvy when it comes to digging deep into these matters. But always willing to learn.
For now I’m happy it works so I can use it if needs be.
I don’t really depend on it but it is a great addition to an already great program.
