I have returned to KDE after quite a while with Gnome, and I am pretty happy using neon as my daily driver. I especially enjoy the wide selection of K apps for pretty much everything you can think of.
I started using Ghostwriter to take notes, and I noticed the spellcheck doesn’t work. I have hunspell, hunspell-en-us as well as aspell, aspell-us installed but it still says there are no backends found. Spellchecking works in the browser and in libreoffice on this system.
Is anyone experiencing this in KDE neon or any other distribution? I don’t want to submit a bug report before I know if this is a Ghostwriter-specific or neon/Ubuntu-specific problem.
Operating System: KDE neon 6.0
KDE Plasma Version: 6.0.3
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.0.0
Qt Version: 6.6.2
Kernel Version: 6.5.0-26-generic (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: Wayland
ghostwriter 24.02.1
Seems like that’s provided in neon by a combination of libkf5sonnetcore5, libkf5sonnetui5 and libkf5sonnetui5 which are all automatically installed… Must be something else. Thank you though
Hey pastel,
I had this problem, and in my case it was fixed by choosing a preferred language in System Settings > Spell Check. Although a default language was selected, I needed to check a preferred language.
Thank you! I guess I should poke around the system settings more often. I’m not running neon anymore, and the spellchecking works out of the box pretty much anywhere else I went, but this will be helpful to me or someone else in the future for sure!
