"Stop Render Preview" not working across sequences

Imagine your project has sequences A and B. Sequence A has a preview zone.

You open your kdenlive project (starting the program) with sequence B active because that is where you were when you last saved.

If you have “automatic preview“ enabled, kdenlive will start rendering the preview zone in sequence A. But you are currently in sequence B, so you click “Stop Preview Render“ expecting it to stop, however, it will only stop previews for sequence B, not other sequences, so sequence A preview won’t be stopped unless you switch to sequence A before stopping.

Now imagine you have 25 sequences and don’t remember where you have preview zones enabled, you’d have to manually go through all of them and click “Stop Preview Render“ in each.

I understand this is done on purpose for sequence-level preview control, but it would be very helpful to have a master stop button since its not unusual for me to create a lot sequences in one editing session and opening kdenlive the next day leads to this problem.

Please let me know if I’m missing something.

Thank you.

Hi, and welcome to the forum and community.

This may be an oversight when sequences were introduced, but we haven’t heard about this need before. I wouldn’t consider this a bug per se but encourage you to create a bug report (instructions are here) and flag this as a wish list item. Thanks!
