Strange characters

This is my environment:
1 PC with Alma Linux 9.5 KDE Plasma
1 PC with Windows (my friend tested it on Linux and got the same result)

The problem happens when I access KDE on my Windows, using VNC.
Once connected, when I try to copy and paste anything, anywhere on my computer (not in KDE) the characters look strange, for example:
Not connected via VNC: “Usuários”
Connected via VNC: “Usuri”

This ONLY occurs when I am connected to KDE via VNC.
Does anyone know what’s going on? This is so strange

Hi - am I reading correctly that the issue is occurring in other Windows applications on your Windows device, totally outside of the VNC connection window to your Linux device?

If so, I’d have to assume that’s due to some interaction between the VNC client and the Windows environment - what client application are you using?

To your first question, yes, exactly that! And a friend of mine tested it on his Linux machine, and it’s exactly the same behavior.

Your second question made me test another VNC application (that’s what you mean by “client application”, right?) I was using UltraVNC, but now I tested it with TightVNC and the behavior is kinda better. For the same example:
Not connected via TightVNC: “Usuários”
Connected via TightVNC: “Usuário"

It suppresses the last few letters, and the more text I copy, the more letters it suppresses

To my very limited understanding, Unicode character support in VNC is a less-standardized extension, so perhaps there are more issues on the clients’ side?

Regardless, I’d suggest seeing what folks in the UltraVNC community can help with - this post might have some good starting links? UltraVNC viewer do not pass Cyrillic letter "у" to the server · Issue #211 · ultravnc/UltraVNC · GitHub

Since it’s one non-KDE Windows program impacting another non-KDE Windows program, there might not be much that folks here can directly help with.

Alright, thanks!
I’ll take a look at the UltraVNC community

Their answer:

Clipboard transfer to linux only supprt ansi and clipboard is common when you connect.
While connected unicode is lost don’t see how we can easy solve this

But I don’t think it’s a problem only with UltraVNC, because if I access my GNOME environment, this problem doesn’t appear.
