Stuck at Login Screen Due to nouveau bus MIMO write fault

I was in infinite loop at login screen after updating to plasma 6.6

When I logged in to terminal with CTRL+F4 to do the full upgrade and reboot, I noticed the error message “nouveau bus MIMO write fault” just before login screen appears.

Google suggested that the nouveau driver doesn’t yet support the nvidia hardware I have. So I have to temporarily disable the nouveau during boot and install the proprietary driver.

Currently I am trying that now.

But just for information, my laptop specs are are follows. Hope nouveau will include the driver in the future.

By the way login loop happens only for Wayland session.
I can get into KDE Desktop using X11 session.

Any thoughts on this?

Thanks!

Did installing the proprietary drivers work for you? They are pretty much essential and Nouveau does not support most features needed for gaming or multimedia work using CUDA.

My laptop is old one with old intel and nvidia graphics card. Not for the gaming anyway. I was using the dektop on X11 session.

However, recent 2 updates on KDE Neon fixed the problem.

I have set the default session to Wayland and its working without a problem so far.
