Subgroups to Kaddressbook

In January 2025, my cell phone fell into the toilet. I lost about 100 important contacts. If I had had up-to-date backups, there would have been no problem. It is currently not possible to define a subgroup for GSM contacts in Kaddressbook. If it were, I could take backups from the cell phone and restore the contacts from the computer to the cell phone if necessary. That is, only the information in the GSM subgroup.

Could subgroups be added to Kaddressbook? Like it was about 10 years ago.

It would be easier to add contacts in general on a computer and then export them to the cell phone if there was that subgroup option.

Since KAddressBook can handle multiple address books in different storage locations, you could add one for your phone contacts.

If you run KDE Connect it has a plugin to synchronize the contacts of the phone to your desktop (stores them as VCF files in a directory under ~/.local/share/kpeoplevcard)
