My system tray gets cluttered quite easily, and a lot of the apps in my system tray are what I need to run in the background, it would be an amazing feature if you were able to group elements in your system tray, maybe set kde specific elements in its own groups, or systemtray things by name or process or be able to drag it from one group to another.
I think grouping items would add unnecessary clutter. We already have grouping possible by having Always Shown, Disables, Always Hidden. As for names and processes yes I could see a rightclick element added to allow for the process name to be shown.
sorting by dragging would also be good.
also the option of Disabled should never stop a process/program from working, it should only just stop it from being displayed in the system tray.
the media button being a prime example of that, only recently being fixed… in 5.27, if you disable the media icon in they system tray, your media buttons on the keyboard stopped working.
That actually makes sense since media keys are typically tied to an app to work. As for Disable it is exactly what it implies and that is stopping the service. Being able to reorder the Systray items would be nice.
This feature would be really cool !
that’s not at all what it does, or should, imply
if i disable my network icon, does it disconnect me from the network?
no, it does not… nor should it.
it should simply remove that entry from the system tray and nothing more.
For critical system services sure, your media keys are not critical system services.
hard disagree.
they are critical to me.
Then don’t disable it.
it’s fixed now in qt6.
