I have an odd issue. Ever since upgrading to KDE Plasma 6.3.0 my system has freezing issues from moving and dragging windows around.
To reproduce:
Grab a window by it’s titlebar, preferably a little lower in the titlebar. Move the window to the top of the desktop. The window snaps to the top edge. Attempt to move the window beyond the top edge of the desktop. The GUI starts to slow down, and potentially freezes the system.
This occurs while running a while, or upon fresh reboots. Moving a Firefox freezes it, as does moving a Konsole window. Not sure about other windows. It happens on multi-monitor screens, too.

I could probably fill out a bug report competently, given enough time, but I’d like to know if the problem is just happening here or if it’s more widespread. Is this happening to anyone else?
Much thanks for the reply. It seems that everyone else is 20 steps ahead of me and the problem was discovered a while ago. I probably should have searched the bug tracker a little more carefully.
Anyhow, I’m not too worried anymore and I’ll just wait for the eventual patch to arrive.
Would it be wise to mark this thread as solved, or is there a better option to close this?
It was only reported 4 days ago, so I wouldn’t say you’re 20 steps behind anyone!
For “Help” posts like this on KDE Discuss, you can click the “checkbox” icon at the bottom of a post to mark that it answered your question:
Doing that lets folks browsing the topic list identify which Help posts have been solved and which ones might still need assistance, and helps others folks coming along later with similar issues quickly jump to the post that answered the question (especially in longer topics).
I have these freezes too with kde plasma 6.3.0 and wayland. It is reproducable like you wrote. Grab a window on the tiltle bar an move is quickly. Than the freeze ossurs.
To avoid an unclean shutdown, i tried:
From another computer i can login via ssh and with “killall -9 bash” i can get a textmode login on the freezed machine again. Of coure the ssh connection is killed too with this command.
Now I can start kde plasma 6.3.0 with wayland again.
To start “kde”, is use the command “dbus-run-session /usr/bin/startplasma-wayland”
With the older kde plasma 6.2.5 there is no freeze.
I have this kind of problem since i moved to wayland one year ago. Most Versions of kde crashed.
kde plasma 6.2.5 with kde-frameworks 6.10.0 or 6.11.0 is the first and only version without freezes.
