Systemsettings not starting

KDE Plasma systemsettings app not opening on Fedora.

Setup:

Linux XXXXXXX 6.10.6-200.fc40.x86_64 #1 SMP PREEMPT_DYNAMIC Mon Aug 19 14:09:30 UTC 2024 x86_64 GNU/Linux
$ systemsettings -v
systemsettings 6.1.4

GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060
CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X
Env: Wayland

Observations:
Right after startup, settings can be opened and everything is fine.

After some time after settings closed, trying to open via UI causes settings icon appear on taskbar and nothing happens (no window/taskbar preview), process seems stuck?

Trying to start with shell:

$ systemsettings
qt.qpa.wayland: eglSwapBuffers failed with 0x300d, surface: 0x0

…and stuck.

This problem persists for at least month, oftenly causes huge problems when can not open settings to configure monitor positions.

Any directions to fix this?

UPD: kinfocenter also hangs with the same behavior. Seems llike problem with underlying system

To configure your screen you can use the command kcmshell6 kscreen or use commandline kscreen-doctor.

Make user you have latest Nvidia drivers, they fixed a few issues with Plasma. At the time of writing that’s 560.

If that does not solve your issue, please report a bug on https://bugs.kde.org/ for systemsettings.

FWIW

I had the catppucin Mocha Blue theme installed and had the same thing. Click right on the desktop, go to display configuration, it allows you to go back to the home page (the little house on the top left), click on another standard KDE theme.
