Hi everyone,
I recently upgraded my system and GPU, and I’m having trouble getting proper taskbar transparency working in KDE Plasma.
System details:
-
OS: openSUSE 16.0
-
Desktop Environment: KDE Plasma 6 (Wayland)
-
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650
The issue:
-
The panel/taskbar remains solid opaque when using default themes (e.g. Breeze) with standard transparency settings.
-
If I manually adjust the panel’s opacity/transparency controls, it makes the entire panel transparent including the icons and text, rather than keeping the icons crisp at 100% opacity over a transparent background.
-
Desktop effects like Blur are enabled in System Settings.
-
I have cleared out old custom themes from
~/.local/share/plasma/desktoptheme/to rule out legacy Plasma 5 conflicts.
Has anyone experienced this on openSUSE with Plasma 6 under Wayland, or is there a specific compositor/theme setting or missing dependency I should check to get proper panel background transparency?
Thanks in advance for any insights!
Dag R
