Taskbar Shortcuts showed a blinking empty tooltip

Hello,
After the update from 6.1.5 to Plasma 6.2.4 im experience a blinking/blurry tooltip, when i hover my mouse cursor over a shortcut, as it shows in the screen on a Firefox Shortcut in the Taskbar.

Is there a workaround available?

Hi - can you please share the details from the Info Center app for the system where you’re seeing that behavior?

And just on a hunch… if it’s an Nvidia system, try booting with the Nouveau drivers. If that fixes it, then it’s 495073 – Tooltip rendering issues when rapidly switching between panel icons

Operating System: Manjaro Linux
KDE Plasma Version: 6.2.4
KDE Frameworks Version: 6.8.0
Qt Version: 6.8.1
Kernel Version: 6.6.63-1-MANJARO (64-bit)
Graphics Platform: X11
Processors: 8 × Intel® Core™ i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz
Memory: 15,6 GiB of RAM
Graphics Processor: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2080 Ti/PCIe/SSE2
Manufacturer: Gigabyte Technology Co., Ltd.
Product Name: Z170X-UD3

Im experience this bug with 2 different system, the system that i posted above and my Full AMD Laptop system, which using Wayland instead X11.

I can copy+paste the info center app from my AMD Laptop also, if you want.

Interesting - I just tried using the Application Menu (as opposed to the default Application Launcher) myself, and get no tooltips at all for the apps marked as favorites!

There have been issues with this component before that happened alongside Qt upstream issues - 401842 – Tooltip of the icons in the favorites list looks ugly after upgrade to Qt 5.12 - so I wonder if this is another similar one, which has gone under the radar since it’s no longer the default application menu/launcher?

As long as that consistently reproduces on your end, this seems like it’d be a good bug report: Get Involved/Issue Reporting - KDE Community Wiki (In this case the Product would be “plasmashell” and the Component would be “Application Menu (Kicker)”.

Thanks!

Well this was only the case with KDE Plasma 6.1.5 on my Distro. My Distro skipped all Plasma versions between 6.1.5 and 6.2.4

Could this problem related to customised Plasma Desktop Theme layouts?

Hmm, custom themes might relate to how that manifests on your system - I do think it would be worth testing with just the stock Breeze theming in place, to make sure the issue reproduces or to see how it differs.
