The "Configure Titlebar Buttons" menu is too had to find

Hi.

I’ve been looking for a way to add action buttons to the titlebars of windows for a while, and at last I’ve had to resort to using ChatGPT to find it. Imho it is in a very hidden and counter-intuitive place, and I don’t know that I would have ever found it by myself:

  • First you need to go to Colors & Themes, where I would expect to find only cosmetic settings, and not behaviour-related settings.
  • Then you have to go to the Window Decorations section, which at least has “window” in its title but which, when you open it, seems like it’s just where you choose the style of the windows.
  • And finally you have to click on the three points at the top right to find the “Configure Titlebar Buttons” section.

I think it’s a very weird place to put this. I propose:

  • to move it to the Apps & Windows category, either in a new section by itself or within the Window Management section.
  • to add a shortcut in the contextual menu that shows the rest of the actions: when you right-click the title bar and hover “More actions” you get the rest of the available window actions and then a few shortcuts for settings related to this particular window. I think this would be a good and intuitive place to add a shortcut to the “Configure Titlebar Buttons” section.

Thanks you for coming to my TED talk.

the layout does regularly get tweaked. Here is my Plasma 6 layout:

But this IS an appearance setting, not a physical actions configuration. At least in my own uneducated opinion.
Creating a new configuration tool needs someone to want to do so, then adding another item to the already messy setup. System Settings needs an overhaul (and has for a very long time ), really.

This is a very good idea.
