The "End Of 10" campaign wants your help!

KDE Eco together with several other FOSS communities is organizing a global, cross-community campaign to promote Linux as an alternative to Windows in the โ€œEnd of 10โ€ campaign.

ืชื•ื ืขื™ื“ืŸ ื”ึพ10

We want your help! Our focus is on in-person support through repair cafes, Linux installation events, independent computer shops, etc. (rather than Do It Yourself installation).

Do you know of any such places in your local community? Would you like to search for them and help us list them on the campaign website? We want to ask each place if they want to be on our website before publishing their information.

Information for how to contribute, including our communication channels:

Contribute | End of 10

The current list of places: Where can I find Linux support? | End of 10

The list of events here: Upcoming Events | End of 10

Thank you

Hi, thanks for posting this. Is there a way to contribute to the Hebrew translation of the website? It is currently quite problematic.

Hi! Yes, thank you for the offer to help. The website is hosted by KDE, so we ware using the normal KDE translation workflow. For general translation info, see:

For Hebrew translation communication channels:

Hi!
@joseph You can link directly to the Hebrew version:

@guss77 Iโ€™m all ears, what are you experiencing?

Fixed  Thank you

Thanks for the response. Iโ€™m familiar with the general concepts of translation and have done some translation work in the past (though not on KDE projects). Iโ€™ve reviewed the articles you have submitted and the links from them, including the subversion repo, and in about 5 minutes couldnโ€™t find where the specific translation of endof10.org is, nor could I find it in invent.kde.org.

A direct link to a source repository would be very much appreciated.

The issues are too numerous to list here, I think if I can submit a diff against the current po file, that would probably work better.

I see that the main issue I had (with one of the sub headers) was already fixed, but here are a few things:

and more. I would like to help and can work with whatever process you have - I have a long track record with working in open source and KDE specifically and Iโ€™d rather skip the โ€œplease read a few thousand words and then apply for mentorship and wait a couple of weeksโ€ process.

Sure, this is the po file:

BTW this translation is about 24 hours old.

You can send the file to me when youโ€™re done.
Make sure to mark all your contributions as fuzzy so I can review, no need to change the strings which I offered to fix myself, itโ€™s a waste of your time.

As youโ€™ll see in the po file: all the strings are translated, there are some issues with the template which require attention but itโ€™s not solvable from the translator perspective.

  • GNU/Linux compatible: Thatโ€™s not a word by word translation, KDE is available in some BSD variants which are not considered GNU/Linux, I took the liberty to express it that way.
  • Iโ€™ll fix the 75% issue.
  • Regarding the carbon emissions: the origin of the string is a bit confusing, feel free to suggest something else and even a way to modify the original strings.
  • Typo, Iโ€™ll fix it, well done.

What else have you encountered?
Have you encountered some errors in the KDE translation itself?

Kind regards,
Yaron.

@guss77 Iโ€™ve made some changes with some of your recommendations and observations, thank you for that.
Feel free to add any comment if you find anything wrong.
