The future of Maliit keyboard or potential replacements for KDE?

Currently on Fedora 41, Maliit keyboard is the only package not updated to Qt6 and kf6.

It seems to pull in 96 Qt5 dependencies, and looking at the project repo things dont look good.

There are a lot of features missing, the last release was 2022, and commits are very rare and nearly all by the same developer (dobey)

What do you know about this, does Plasma-mobile use maliit too? Is there a chance it gets replaced, or revived somehow? The project seems to be a core part of Plasma desktop and mobile, and pretty ambitious.

This active project looks like the future replacement

For reference - there was a pretty recent thread on this topic: Feature Request: Virtual Keyboard - #17 by Duha

Which included a link to some work in development: Plasma / QVK · GitLab

there are people working on improving Maliit. At least , there are quite a few PR at Pull requests · maliit/keyboard · GitHub

amongst them: QT6, missing keys

Wonder how somebody could help to speed this work up?

Someone with the desire, skill and motivation to see Maliit be further developed would presumably need to step up to be a primary maintainer - directly contributing code improvements, expressing a project vision and encouraging other contributors, doing merge request review, etc.
