the start menu is centered on the button and not on the center of the desktop
only observed in KDE 6, in KDE 5 everything works as expected.

The screenshots show that in the fifth version the Start menu is located in the middle of the desktop, which is logically correct.

Checked 6.1.3, same problem.
I would also like to understand, is this a planned innovation or a defect?

Looks like a design decision to me. Personally I would prefer it be left aligned to the start button. However, I do not like that menu, and use the built in fullscreen Application Dashboard alternative which is far more modern and feature rich than the regular β€œMenu”, or β€œLauncher”, with built in runner functionality that is way cool, like calculations or conversions right from the search box. I simply typed $500 and it told me what it was worth in my own currency (CDN) at today’s exchange rate. No clicking anything else. Love it.

Removed, as I misunderstood

Perhaps I expressed myself incorrectly. It is not about the location of the start button, but about the start menu window when opening. If you look at the first screenshot (plasma 6 desktop), you can see that the start window opens in the center of the start button and as applications open, it moves to the left area, while in the second screenshot (plasma 5 desktop), the start window strives to be in the center of the screen regardless of how full the taskbar is with open programs. In plasma 5, everything works as it should (screenshot 2)

I am not against design decisions, but if in free software the user is left with a choice, then this approach will be ideologically correct. If such a setting exists, then help me find this β€œbutton”.

Yes, I seem to have misunderstood, apologies!

The current behavior is considered bug. 477957 – Application launcher shouldn't try to center on its button when the panel acts like a dock
