These past months Kwin has been crashing a lot for me

Seemingly random crashes, that come out of the left field. I don’t know if it’s just my system that is experiencing these crashes, but when dr Konqi tries to do a report, it fails as well. It asks for a password to upload a .zst compressed file, but after entering my pwd, it just errors and suggests that I close the window.

This is kind of whe I’m stuck at the moment, because I would like to send in those crash reports, but don’t know how, other than when konqi does it automagically.

I will give extra info if needed/ I can.

Could you try to install debug symbols in drkonqi?

Could you copy your system info from info center and paste it here?

How can I add those debug symbols?

Software:
endeavourOS
Plasma: 6.4.4
Frameworks: 6.17.0
Qt: 6.9.1
Kernel: 6.16.2-arch1-1
Wayland: 1.24.0-1

Example of recent crashes, where kwin died and a few other things with it, but as I mentioned before, konqi wasn’t able to send the logs (when I click them, I can view them just fine)

amd gpu?

i’m getting these now

Click on the “Install Debug Symbols“ button in drkonqi when you view the backtrace

amd gpu?

Yes, with mesa 1:25.2.1-1

I only have copy to clipboard and run interactive debugger in the top right corner and the latter is greyed out most of the time.

i updated my bios version and that seems to have cut down on the number of p3 items in my journal about the amd gpu.

time will tell.

may also help to fall back to the kernel prior (or even the one before that) for a time.

same for me and I don’t know if it is linked, but those situations mostly happen on days when it is warm, it happens on my NUC.

Is your pc a NUC too?

Not sure if it’s related, but I’ve had frequent kwin crashes after resuming from suspend, on kernel 6.15.10. Can’t reproduce on earlier kernels.

Posted in more detail at: With Fedora 42 kernel 6.15.10, kwin dumps core when resuming from suspend

Regardless if they are connected, I still would like to send in the crash logs manually at the very least, but how could I go about doing so? Is there an email address where I could send them? A matrix contact?

Guidelines and HOWTOs/Debugging/How to create useful crash reports - KDE Community Wiki shows how and crash reports can be sent to https://bugs.kde.org thank you!

I may have created a few window rules for librewolf which could’ve conflicted with each other.

I was trying to get pip working with them and had to do it a few times, but when creating IDENTICAL rules plasma didn’t warn me that " Hey, that already exists! " so I had 6 window rules all doing the same, which after culling them, the number of crashes went down.
