Things look like they have a film over them

I have a LG UltraGear 32GR93U-B & images & most videos don’t look as clear as they should IMO anyway. The thems has the options with the slides & I moved shade so it is a lot cleared. Do they actually do anything, because they are under the disabled tab?

With this display – also 3840x2160 pixels and 140 dpi – I’m not seeing this issue –

Are you absolutely certain that, you’ve installed all the needed micro-code packages for your CPU and graphics system?
And, are those packages up-to-date?

I think they are installed, what are the package names? I have a AMD Ryzen 7 5800X 8-core, 16-Thread Unlocked Desktop Processor & a RTX 3060Ti. I am still on X, Wayland doesn’t pick up monitor (listed as generic), the only res listed is a low one. Also Spectacle won’t open, so I have no screenshot util.

Depends on which Linux distribution you’re using and, on how well that distribution is being maintained.

  • If Wayland is misbehaving as badly as that you’re experiencing then, you possibly have some rather ancient code present on your system.

The only reason I’m currently not using Wayland on this system is, due to my need for fairly/reasonably accurate colour rendition on my Monitor – something that Wayland in KDE Plasma 5 currently doesn’t support well – the colour rendition doesn’t have to be as accurate as an Apple Mac but, it needs to be reasonably close to the best that the market can currently offer …

I use X too, my my LG UltraGear 32GR93U-B is not supported, I only have 1 very low res to pick & Spectecle won’t open.

Nope using Manjaro, I alwys update.

Then, you’re Arch Linux based – you can verify the integrity of your installed packages with the Arch Linux documentation related to pacman – <pacman/Tips and tricks>

pacman -Qkk right?

Looking at the pacman man page, you may also need to check the database consistency – therefore, in addition, possibly before the “-Qkk” –

# pacman -Dkk

Can you tell me what to type, not a CLI guy?

@Edward78:

pacman -Dkk” is exactly what you have to type – in my example, the “# ” is the CLI prompt of the user “root”.

I got.

I am not on a phone, not sure why it has plasma mobile & dialer.

@Edward78:

Which Java Runtime version do you have installed?

Is the Plasma Wayland Session package installed?

Under installed packages I see nothing about a Java Runtime or Plasma Wayland Session.

Idon’t think I am, but how do I make sure tint/shade is not being used I want it as clear as glass?

Then, there’re some unresolved system/package dependencies in your system – you’ll need to install the missing packages to resolve those dependencies.

  • Even if, you strongly believe that, there’s nothing in the missing packages which is causing the rendering issue you’re experiencing.
  • And, you’ll also have to prove that, the base cause of your issue isn’t due to something in the screen rendering which needs components offered by Java and the Wayland Session packages.
