This week Plasma 6.7 received a few more stabilization bug-fixes while attention turned towards the upcoming 6.8 release. Some exciting changes are in progress, and a few have already merged, including highly visible improvements to some common animations.
The most amazing aspect of kwin for me was the fact that, as they left behind most of the OTT âblingâ of Compiz, but added polish and stability, whilst continuing the most iconic of thoseâŠ

The rest are also very smooth, but these two stand out as particularly âun-seriousâ but gorgeous and very natural feeling animations.
True, I donât remember my life before the magic lamp effect, the wobbly windows, and of course the magnificent âBurn my Windowsâ.
Well, actually, I do remember the bouncing app icon effect from KDE 3 twenty years ago, that also, feels very natural and much less annoying that bouncing the app icon from the dock (even if the cursor icon is often hidden when we launch any app from the taskbar).
