Yeah, and even better, make system tray scrollable too, on small displays this could be helpful as well.
Off top rant
On a side note I find it very strange that system tray’s settings for small and normal gaps between tray icons make almost no difference. When I set normal gaps they look almost as small as the small ones, whereas large gaps look really really big. It seems that making normal ones bigger would be a step in a right direction.
I don’t understand why one should sacrifice with other scroll actions on panel to just make it scrollable as a whole, too.
EDIT: OK I see now how exactly that scrolling has been done, no objections anymore. But I would not want to hit the limit and see those scroll buttons anyway.
Because those are two different problems and the developer was able to solve one of them. But, you know, if you think you can do better, please get involved!
You are also pointing to a different problem. Although, we call it Plasma, it is really a series of interconnected components that can (and often are) dealt with and built separately.
You are also kindly invited to get involved so you too can have a crack at solving the issue you are pointing to.
That’s always wonderful to see. It’s nice that most of KDE’s improvements are pure net positives. I couldn’t always say that when I tried GNOME some years back, when functionality would disappear for arbitrary reasons.
The setup wizard is great idea. I do have a question about it. Nate, you wrote:
“If you’re the person who installed the OS, the installer did it after you told it what username and password you wanted. But what if someone else ran the installer? Say, the company you bought the computer from. Or the last person who wiped the machine before giving or selling it you. In this case, no user accounts have been set up, so something needs to do that.”
But when you have no account yet, you also don’t have settings yet. I’m talking in particular the theme settings. I do this cause I see a very dark picture for keyboard setup (as example) but is it already possible to switch that into a light version since there is no chosen theme yet? It is very difficult, impossible would be a better word, for me to read text on a dark background. (I have just written the same in the thread about the desktop screenshots)
I can’t imagine I am the only one in the world who has this issue so having a light version would be very nice.
Right now KISS uses a dark theme by default. But it gives you, the future user, the opportunity to select a light theme, which will then carry over to the new user account too.
Also, it will default to using a light theme in the future, since that’s Plasma’s default setting.
Hi, I have question about notifications that bothers me for a quite time, but never get time to ask. Are there any plans to extract them from plasma process into separate entity? The reason is simple, when plasma process crashes all notifications are lost. Not that it happens often but still happens sometimes.
Another question is about persisting notifications: is it planned in some future to store them, so they could be accessed even after full system restart? As this might raise security concerns, it expected to be opt-in and maybe some process based filter.
PS Forgot about third question, is it planned to show notifications on a locking screen? Again, maybe only some of them, and/or just applications with notification count.
