Trash .desktop file goes missing everytime one file is deleted

I prefer a Trash Link instead of the Trash KDE Widget. I achieved this by simply dragging the “Trash” item on the left sidebar in Dolphin to the desktop. Everything works fine. Inside the directory home/$USER/Desktop I can see “trash:⁄.desktop”. It works just like a folder on the Desktop and it can be opened.

But my problem now is that every time I delete a file everywhere on the system, it disappears. The .desktop file still is in the directory, but it’s gone from the desktop every single time I create any file. It comes back after reboot.

How can this be fixed?
Thanks

I have the same issue on 6.1, the update didn’t fix it

Same issue here, restoring a file from the trash also makes the Trash desktop icon disappear.

Fixed in KIO 6.4. See 485771 – Desktop icons disappear after icon update (including the trash icon)
