In Dolphin I can focus files and folders by typing first letters of their names. I would like the same behaviour on desktop files (not only when I open the desktop folder in Dolphin). Plasma instead opens Krunner, which can be disabled in the settings of Krunner but “type to focus files” still does not work. I only found some redit threads of people complaining this is not possible. This works both in Windows and some Linux desktops (at least in Cinnamon) thus I hope I am not the only one missing this feature. I would like to file a feature request but not sure how.
hi, welcome.
bugs.kde.org is where you file a bug report/feature request.
the item is actually called “wish list” in the dropdown menu after you indicate what software you are reporting against.
this would be related to the plasamshell product.
but i will say that krunner is VERY popular and with good reason… you can likely find files just as fast using krunner as some windows like menu accelerator feature.
give it a try… it should be listing files by default, but in case it’s not in your disto for whatever reason, you can configure it to search for filenames/folders
