Unable to submit password

im running kde 6.6.3 wayland on arch with an amd gpu, at some point recently for some reason whenever i lock my pc it doesnt let me enter the password as in it lets me type it but not submit, i also noticed the virtual keybard button in the bottom left doesnt work either, i have no clue on how to start troubleshooting this able to get in fine via tty with loginctl unlock-sessions

I think I have also experienced this a short while ago while doing some automatic lock testing.
Neither ENTER not clicking the submit button would work.

KDE Neon with the most recent updates on a laptop with Intel iGPU.

Don’t remember if that happened with the X11 or Wayland session (was testing both).
Might have time this weekend to try to reproduce.

for ref mine happens 100% of the time whether locked via automatic or manually clicking lock

I am also experiencing this issue randomly on Fedora KDE.

i experienced this once or twice on opensuse slowroll

I have successfully unlocked my session several times now.

All attempts with an X11 session though, didn’t get around to re-testing with Wayland yet

sorry had forgotten to say, am on wayland

This sounds quite a bit like https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=515299.

might be the same root cause but not exactly the same bug noted a few differences below
I dont know if the other people in this thread have the same issue but heres my differences

  1. doesnt even check the password the first time, its just goes to the no animation state immediately instead of entering an incorrect password first
  2. when attempting the switch user method used to just load infinitely but now says incorrect password(i dont know when that changed)
  3. when respawning kscreenlocker_greet by killing it through tty it still fails(properly respawns with new id but same issue occurs)
  4. the mentioned bug report thread seems to have something to do with deselecting the password entry field during the login attempt(either by moving the mouse to a different monitor which im on a 1 monitor setup, or by pressing escape during the login attempt)

a few things i noted in my recent troubleshooting I used to have automatic login on boot i attempted to turn it off to test.

  1. intial boot login works fine, locking screen still breaks. but now when attempting the switch user method it works fine
  2. respawning kscreenlocker_greet by killing proccess through tty still fails
