I like using Okular to highlight my textbook pdfs but I am surprised that okular has no unsaved file recovery in case of power outage or unexpected shutdown.
hi, welcome.
libre office suite apps currently handle this by making temp file of whatever is open in the application so that changes are mirror there and can be recovered in case the app is unexpectedly shutdown.
plasma apps like okular, and kate handle this a little differently and will actually prevent the shutdown from occurring and prompt you for what to do with your changes.
but this does nothing to protect against power loss and will not stop a forced shutdown… nor does it automatically protect you from yourself if you choose “discard” from the popup.
the libre office way is more passive and more protective at the expense of some clutter.
which is better?
i don’t know, but my UX with the libre office way has saved my bacon more than a few times, whereas i’ve had thinks in kate disappear into the either on occasions of hardware instability.
