Update discover bios dell

Three weeks ago, I noticed that Discover was offering the latest Dell BIOS 1.48 for the Latitude 9420, which I accepted, and today version 1.49, which I declined. Let me explain why: the Dell website for this model doesn’t list either of these two versions. That’s strange, I thought, because I’ve always been able to find my own BIOS versions, but not this time? Can anyone explain why Dell no longer lists its BIOS versions, or does this mean that, recently, BIOS updates are now handled by Linux and Windows and are no longer available from the manufacturer? That seems to be the only re

fwupdmgr only offers BIOS updates that the manufacture provides, Dell in your case.

#You would have to ask Dell why they are not documenting these specific versions.

The question you should be asking is the the FLOCK is anything in the OS itself offering a BIOS update. That should never happen. The only proper way to update a BIOS is from within the BIOS. Too many things can go wrong doing it from the desktop.

So you don’t have an answer as to why these two versions aren’t available from Dell, even though Dell has always documented and offered them for download on its website for this model. This is all a recent development—since June—and so I conclude that my explanation makes sense: Dell no longer documents its BIOS for this model, and likely for others as well.

On the other hand, I was expecting a little more from the community—there’s nothing substantial to go on to understand this, even though there’s bound to be a reason? And telling me to ask Dell or how to update a BIOS? I’ve been updating BIOSes for 35 years—and for the past 20 years using manufacturers’ files—and I’ve never had a problem, except in the ’90s because of power outages, which were pretty common back then.

I’m going to close this thread and look for answers elsewhere.

Hello, I wrote to Dell two days ago about the BIOS versions that haven’t been released since version 1.46. As of this morning, version 1.49 is available online, but I haven’t received a response explaining why.
