I just updated my laptop about 20 minutes ago, got it with no issue.
The file was slow to download on my PC earlier, not nothing out of the ordinary for my crappy connection and location.
I don’t know how large a set of mirrors that Ubuntu’s security repo has, but I will imagine a specific server their load balancers are sending some people to must be on the fritz.
I also considered that maybe the specific file was pulled or something, but then I would not have been able to install it just now.
Unfortunately, the error is still present. I tried “apt update && apt full-upgrade” via the command line.

No, I updated my laptop well after this had been noticed. More likely I updated both systems at times things weren’t down, or weren’t for the particular server my traffic was sent to.
I got the same error last night. After it crashed out, the update notifier has not provided me with the update notification again after starting the computer this morning, which is curious. I am going to wait it out. If it does not prompt me in a couple of days, I will do it manually.
I’m having the same issue and was looking for a solutions found one that appears to be working, it’s at 5% download now, very slow for some reason.
Go to sudo nano /etc/resolv.conf make a backup just in case
and set nameserver 8.8.8.8
No, I still can’t perform a system update on one system (a other Notebook system) . It can’t be that there’s still something wrong with the Ubuntu server.
Is anyone else having problems updating their system?

you can try a different server by going to settings > driver manager > Ubuntu software : download from > choose a server in a different time zone or country.
Unfortunately, that’s not possible via Discover, where you can update all packages. How did you do that? With the command “apt-mark hold linux-firmware”?
