This really needs to be updated to work with Plasma 6 and above.
You can take up that role. its not made by kde themselves after all.
You can keep the unwarranted comments to yourself.
I think someone(s) did try to fork it, but didnât get very far.
The widget has been languishing long before Plasma 6.
There is a Plasma 6 branch on github, but does not work.
Been dead for just over 2 years. I know there are other apps but I donât want something that is massive / fullscreen.
I actually sort of do - if it is going to be bigger, at least have some useful content to fill it
I donât need such a big empty space for time zones that doesnât offer much utility, though I do use two on the clock itself. None of the alternatives suit me, either.
For what itâs worth, looks like a few different folks have forked the original widget to at least play around with it. Maybe thereâs something you can use or adapt to your needs among them: Forks ¡ Zren/plasma-applet-eventcalendar ¡ GitHub
There is this but looks like they dropped the ball as well
Looks like some interested party in the community would need to dive into the code on this one - maybe the resources at this page would be helpful: Plasma Widget tutorial | Developer
Those of us who used Event Calendar were pretty much dismayed⌠first of all it suffered constant problems with Google integration, and eventually the developer just gave up - obviously it didnât pay well enough to be worth the effort.
So apart from contacting the developer and offering cash, the next step is to take up development yourself.
Commenting that something (which has been dead for years and having serious problems for a couple of years leading up to that) âneedsâ to be fixed is certainly not warranted and harking back to 2021 videos in 2025 just reminds us of something we liked, but already learned to live without.
You can find the âplasma6-event-calendarâ which was attempted 5 years ago, and is still headed up with (Under Progress!!!). The only activity visible is an update to the ReadMe a year ago and nothing more.
No other forks appeared.
Since using the applet, I find that kAlarm is my current favourite scheduling app, and to be honest, the idea of an overcomplicated app combining too many elements is always going to be vulnerable to some single points of failure.
The OG Event Calendar does have a Plasma 6 branch, though it appears to be at the very bare bones of stages, and has not seen any update in 9 months
Part of the calendar functionality could probably be ported to the QML API used by Merkuro Calendar.

To be honest I donât care about the weather or other elements being part of it. All I want is a simple widget to sit on the desktop like the below image. I donât care if the calendar is hidden til itâs needed. I would be happy with something that just list x amount of events / appointments with their date and time like the left half of the below image.
So essentially the UI that is the popup of digital clock but as its own applet.
Or just its âAgendaâ view.
I donât really know much about Plasma applets but this could potentially be just a matter of repackaging content.
Just the agenda
