Use HDMI Limited colour range and YCbCr444 on Wayland

Hi all, I’m looking for some help on this. I’m using

  • OS: CachyOS x86_64
  • Display (LG TV SSCR2): 3840x2160 @ 1.5x in 72", 120 Hz [External]
  • DE: KDE Plasma 6.5.1
  • WM: KWin (Wayland)
  • GPU 1: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 [Discrete]

My goal: I’m trying to make Wayland always use HDMI Limited colour range and YCbCr444, even after rebooting.

I found that if I boot into X11 first, apply the settings through NVIDIA X Server Settings, then switch to Wayland, that works, HDMI Limited gets applied correctly at least.

I’m running into 2 problems.

  1. If I boot directly into Wayland (without launching X11), there are no colour controls in the NVIDIA X Server Settings, changing ‘Display configuration’ in the ‘System Settings’ doesn’t apply HDMI Limited colour range or (seemingly) YCbCr444.
  2. (Minor problem) If I reboot in X11, the ‘Current’ values get reverted back to their original values while the settings remain correct but are not actually applied.

The settings above only apply when I change the ‘Display configuration’ in the ‘System Settings’ (Resolution, Refresh Rate). The screen turns black, then comes back with the correct colours.
