Using recent harddrive folder location when saving projects

This bugs me but is not a bug. Is there a way to ask kdenlive to show recent locations in the save/save as options when you start a new project file. As it is now it will only go to the default folder. The default folder is great to have (I use it when I am not sure were I want the video or project file to go) but it is cumbersome to go through the entire process of finding the location where you saved the last project file when you do know (when that is not the default folder). I cant find a setting in environment where it can be done. Is it even possible.

This is not available, rn. Please open a wish list item in the official bug tracker.

Hi and thank you. I will try that.

This is handled by QFileDialog (QFileDialog Class | Qt Widgets 6.8.2), which we don’t implement, so we don’t get a whole lot of control over what functionality you get presented, and it will vary depending on what your platform / DE provides for that function.

In the plasma dev-vm I have with bleeding edge Qt/KDE, it shows a sidebar which includes, among other things, “Recent” files and locations.

In the older stable MATE desktop I have, there’s a combo box with, among other things, some Recent dirs, and a pair of history arrows next to it.

If you’re not seeing something like that and want it, you might need to question your DE choices …

I had a feeling… I take it DE means desktop environment, which for L Mint would be cinnamon. Thank you for the clarification

I’ve not used cinnamon to know my way around it, or how well or otherwise Qt interoperates with it, but being on the Shiny And New side of the DE options spectrum, I’d be a little surprised if it doesn’t have something like that. I’d dig a bit deeper into whether you’ve got it disabled as a privacy setting or are missing some package to enable it properly etc.

It does. Called recent files. Looking around the www I did find a question from when the dinosaurs ruled the world that some applications does not work well with the feature. I should perhaps ask on the linux mint forum. Thank you for clearing that up
