Wallpaper type Slideshow plugin improvements

The KDE Slideshow wallpaper type plugin could use some performance and display enhancements:

  1. Have options to display the wallpaper filename and path on the desktop if desired, and have the capability to place the information anywhere on the desktop (usually near the screen corners). If the filename or path is selected, open Dolphin or Gwenview to view it.
  2. Improve plugin performance for handling very large collections (>10000 images), maybe in the same way that the Windows DisplayFusion app handles large collections. This is especially important when KDE Plasma (plasmashell) starts up. Very large collections can take several minutes (> 5 minutes) to display and can cause KDE Plasma to crash.

Plasma like any desktop should not be looking through a ton of data on startup.

True, it shouldn’t do this, but apparently it does. I don’t know if you’ve used the Windows DisplayFusion app before, but it handles very large image collections on Windows with minimal effort. I was hoping this plugin could be modified, maybe using AI to assist the KDE developers in adding these functions.

I suggest we not even mention muchless ever use AI.

Why not use AI? AI, if used PROPERLY, is a great tool to assist developers. You still have to double-check the code and verify that it works.

Great tool my ass. If it doesn’t know something it makes up something. The flockin data centers are draining our resources at a rate that are outrageous.
