What is the status of KDevelop documentation?

Hi everybody,

Excuses if this is not the correct place for my question, I do not know in what category it belongs.

I’m looking for an IDE to use on Debian (trixie) with full support for CMake and is open source. VS code is not what I want. KDevelop is, for what I can see at this moment, the best match.

I have KDevelop version 6.1.241203 (24.12.3) up and running, can do simple things, can do code analysis, build etc. (still learning how to use the IDE to the full extend).

Looking up documentation and manuals I see things that make me less happy. The KDevelop handbook states ‘This documentation was converted from the KDE UserBase
KDevelop4/Manual page.’ :face_with_raised_eyebrow: I can hardly imagine the handbook includes all changes from v4 to v6.

My questions are:

  • What is the status of the KDevelop user documentation?
  • Where can I find the latest version?
  • If there is no up to date documentation then how am I supposed to find out correct ways of using KDevelop?

Any advise is welcome.

Hi,

The status of the documentation is pretty much non-maintained. On the other hand, the feature set and UI hasn’t changed that much through the various ports. Most of it should be still valid.
