Oh ! That’s pretty hidden indeed x) But thank you
I really wish that Activities get more powerful, because they totally can be great to use
(I have a work, personal and gaming activities, with the proper panel placements and power settings)
I think it’s worth noting that two checkboxes still remain in the Activity Power Settings page right now: “Never turn off the screen”, and “Never shut down the computer or let it go to sleep”. Those are categorized under “Define a special behavior”, as opposed to the more involved “Use separate settings” which has been removed.
I’m not sure if Plasma devs have plans to remove those two options as well, but the commit message mentions that they’re useful, and they don’t come with all the cruft of defining an entire power management profile like you get for AC and battery. My reading is that those two options are meant to stay? I figure they might get moved to a different place in the process, sometime.
I’m long Plasma user, and I use it every day, and I can say that for now the performance is quite stable with 5.27 and everything works except some minor bugs. Well, it seems Plasma desktop 5 is at its high performance and stability peeks, so the challenge for Plasma 6 is quite big to maintain its position on that stable level.
The real problem that will always tarnish Plasma desktop good reputation comes from other buggy KDE projects. For example, if a simple user installs a distro with its full KDE packages, it will come with some buggy (or unmaintained) apps like KGet, KMail, KOrganizer, Akregator, KAlarm, Kamoso… these apps work fine for little tasks but if you adopt them for long time as your main apps you will surely suffer from some catastrophic bugs that are not fixed since years, especially in those apps based on that cursed Akonadi (I really wished for that beautiful Kalendar app to never adopt it). The bugs on these apps will always be linked to Plasma desktop because they are coming from the same source and are developed under the same umbrella.
You got me Konqi!
The minimize button being gone was like a slap to the face.
“i don’t care, i still hate you for removing stuff”
I forbid you from removing your sense of humour.
Your sincerely
