When i alt tab to firefox in KDE Plasma 6, it changes the focused tab

Hi all,

It is not a Firefox bug. In my testing I have found it to be any GTK based application running on Plasma (lastest), like Firefox, Chrome etc. When you Alt-Tab - KWin Task switcher does its thing. The Tab key however “feeds” through to the focus window, meaning that for as many times as you hit tab after pressing Alt-Tab will send a Tab to the focused window.

This has left me perplexed for a while, for my IDE of choice (JetBrains) would leave we with a whole lot of white space on an editing line; then saw the problem in Firefox, then also in Chrome.

OS: Fedora Linux 40 (KDE Plasma) x86_64
Kernel: 6.9.7-200.fc40.x86_64
Plasma 6.1.1
Theme: Breeze-Dark [GTK2], Breeze [GTK3]
Running on Wayland.

BTW: Just updated Fedora - problem still there.

Gawie

I’m having the same problem, the alt+tab works, but the tab button are passed to the last active window too.

OS: Fedora release 40 (Forty) x86_64
Kernel: 6.9.9-200.fc40.x86_64
Plasma 6.1.3
Qt: 6.7.2

Running on Wayland.

I am also experiencing a problem where the task switcher in Garuda Linux doesn’t fully capture focus when activated. This means other applications might remain partially active or visible, interfering with your task switching experience. Whenever i am trying to switch the windows using alt+tab, my “tabs” or if I am using arrows, those are registered in window from where I am switching.
