I’m a beginner and I would like to learn properly, with interactive guides or by engaging with the community.
i was a beginner just a couple years ago and i came here as one of the first places to get answers.
reddit is helpful too.
not sure what you mean by “learn properly” but you learn as you go… take good notes.
If I were you I would start out with EndeavourOS cause terminal centric, but they won’t frown on you wanting =to use GUI programs if it’s more comfortable. The community in general is one of the larger and friendliest ones.
Reddit is not the place to go.
This is a good place.
In general, learning by doing is a great place to start. We’ve designed Plasma to be intuitive, so in general the basics should be easy enough to figure out.
If you’re having trouble with anything, asking a specific question here should yield some answers pretty quickly.
it’s better than stack exchange.

The Linux Mint forums.

-
YouTube tutorials from knowledgeable people (aka Linux nerds)

Also you can ask AI for general information… like What is bash?; Best office suites out there; how do I make my terminal look sexy like that other redditor, etc. Basically informational stuff. Do not use it for stuff like “how to fix my grub”, “oh my initramfs corrupted”, “my microphone isn’t working”
For serious problems, please try to find an answer on online forums first, or create a new thread. Depending on your distribution.

The Arch Linux Wiki (NOT the arch forums!)

NOPE not by a looooooooong sgot.\
Simmply NO.
i mean for noobs.
stack exchange is harsh on noobs
reddit is more tolerant, but you need to wade thru a lot of kruff
there are also often distro specific forums that are a good resource
such as
You do have a point there because they can be true pieces of doggy doo.
At Kubuntu Forums .Net we’re friendly, especially to newbies, and don’t much care which distro, either.
it’s true, there is a Help the New Guy forum that is distro agnostic
Almost any Linux forms is good to go if you need help Except for ARCH Forums ( Pretty hard to understand the forums there for beginners and AUR is only on arch )
But the best place is the official forum’s of your distro or Decktop environment
Reddit is okay to go to sometimes but I would recommend you avoid it as they are pretty useless to ask questions on there and everyone is a A hole or incompetent
Most of the time you will learn linux from trial and error and the official forum’s of your distro or Decktop environment
Alright, thank you all very much for your responses. I’ll consider the following order:
-KDE Discuss
-http://forum.endeavouros.com/c/general-system/newbie/32
-http://www.kubuntuforums.net/
-Arch Wiki
-Reddit
You all seem far more advanced than I am—how did you reach that level? Was it mostly through trial and error, or did you follow someone else’s methodology?
Most of use beginners learn from trial and error and the forum.
I only start to learn Linux like a year ago But I have learned more about Software and Operating System on Linux in 1 year then I have using any OS in my 20 years of being alive just by trial and error and the Ubuntu forums. and I have recently been trying to get into KDE plasma Development and learn how the system operates.
So good luck or your journey of Linux it’s not for the faint of heart and remember since it a open source System alot of use want to help new users because we have all been in your shoes and know how confusing it can be.
