I have just downloaded the iso and installed it on a blank drive and the wifi will not connect, it says waiting for activation, then responds that the connection is released , no secrets were provided. I have narrowed this down to being a wallet issue.
Wallet doesn’t allow me to use GPG so i chose back and went to classic…
entered a password..
Still same result… browsed the web, found one solution which said use a blank passsword, so I changed the password.. NO JOY…
Another said touch the kwalletd file… done… NO CHANGE
Finally, I got it to work by going into the connection setttings and choosing “save pw for everyone (no encryption)” which bypasses wallet… BINGO it worked! Yay!
Please fix this and the GPG issue.
I am switching to trial NEON over having used Ubuntu for years and Windows for decades.
Not a good first impression when two things out of the gate(box) are broken on a fresh standard install of the public iso, not the demo iso or bleeding edge but the stable one?!?
I do love the look and feel of KDE and like that you have your own distro and hope to continue using it.
Some distros, like Kubuntu and TuxedoOS (I used in the past), do set up kwallet fully automatically for you as part of the installation. Don’t know why neon doesn’t.
I first stumbled over this when I switched to Arch.
In Short, use blowfish encryption, name the wallet kdewallet and, use not just a, use your user password.
And the long version I followed from the arch wiki. I use kwallet only for my Wifi and KeePassXC for everything else.
I recently read somewhere (here?), if I remember correctly, that kwallet gets a overhaul or was it just a renaming? If it was the first maybe things get easier in the future.
I did use my exact user password, as I always try to use one password on a system when first trying it out. And I did use blowfish because GPG failed and the only option was back and to use blowfish.
I haven’t heard about a kwallet or kwallet manager overhaul, but it seems this issue has cropped up in the past. And maybe has reared its ugly head again… I’m not sure because I have only used Ubuntu and Arch myself.
I hope it is patched quickly becaue it causes every new install to fail immediately. I downloaded the stable user ISO and burned/saved it using Rufus to USB bootable. Live failed the same as after installing on clean HD.
This happened to me. Disable Kwallet entirely, reboot. Re-enable Kwallet. I do not recall if I deleted the config but you could try that after if this does not work for you.
