Will 2025 see the release schedule of plasma calm to 2 a year?

Imo plasma 6 had a strong starting year, would it be realistic to see the promised 2 releases a year that was promised for plasma 6? Obviously this depends on how the dev team sees the codebase, but other than a few stray bugs here and there, I’d say it’s high time for the switch, especially with fedora promoting plasma to edition status.

Also, will frameworks move to this schedule as well, or will it only be plasma? Or is this dependent on talks with distro maintainers and their pain points?

At Akademy this year, we agreed to put the proposal on hold until we’ve addressed/removed every item on Plasma/Wayland Known Significant Issues - KDE Community Wiki. The reason for this is that everything on there represents a tangible regression from the X11 session that we’d ideally want to get into production as quickly as possible once it’s merged.

Once everything there is done, the importance of quickly pushing out releases drops, and we can consider the proposal again.
