Window Glitching When Snapping to Left or Right in Wayland

Does anyone know if this is a known bug?

Here’s a video of the issue:

It tends to only happen with web browsers, and more frequently with Progressive Web Apps, as you can see with Gmail in my example.

The PWA I was demonstrating uses Chromium, but I’ve also had this occur with Chrome and Brave. The Appearance settings in the browsers are set to “classic”, but it happens with GTK and QT as well. I’ve set all themes back to default Breeze default to ensure it wasn’t a theme issue.

I’ve only been able to reproduce this issue in Wayland. When running X11, it works just fine.

I am having this exact same issue as well. Running the latest Fedora KDE spin and it happens with Google Chrome. It seems like window snapping works fine with one instance of Chrome open, but the moment I pull out a tab to make a new window or open a new window by right clicking the taskbar, the snapping for the second window is completely broken. Corner snapping works fine, however. Works fine in X11.

I opened this bug, glad to see it’s not just me and not just Arch.

I’m experiencing something similar on Plasma 6.1. Here’s a video of it happening.

Steps followed in video:

  1. Maximize window
  2. Press META+RIGHT to snap window to right
  3. Experience screen artifacts on right half of screen
  4. Press META+UP to snap window to top
  5. Experience screen artifacts on top half of screen
  6. Right click on taskbar icon and select More > ^ Maximize
  7. Window is maximized and functionality restored
