I’m having trouble with reconciliation in KMyMoney.
My last reconciliation ended correctly, and the reconciled transactions match my bank statement. However, when I try to start the next reconciliation, the starting balance shown is completely different from the last ending balance.
There is no discrepancy between my account balance in KMyMoney and my bank statement, so the problem seems to be that the reconciliation assistant is not picking up the correct previous ending balance.
I also tried restoring older backups (going back up to six months), but each time I attempt a reconciliation, the starting balance is still inconsistent.
Has anyone experienced this before? Could it be a bug, or is there a configuration/setting I should check?
First, what version of the program and what OS/Distribution are you using? It shouldn’t matter, but it might help tracking down the issue.
I believe we’ve seen similar reports in the past, and have not figured out why the starting balance would be different from expected. Have you marked or unmarked any transaction as Reconciled since the previous reconciliation?
Anyway - it doesn’t actually matter. The Starting Balance is for convenience, and is not used in the process. As long as the appropriate transactions are marked as cleared, and the ending balance matches the statement, your are OK to complete the Reconciliation Wizard.
Separately, it would be great if you can create a small .kmy file which demonstrated the problem. That would give the development team a better chance of finding the cause.
I’m running opensuse Tumbleweed/Gnome and KMyMoney is version 5.2.1.
I don’t think I have marked/unmarked previously reconcilied transaction. The only thing I did was correcting errors found after the update of KMyMoney. I had to replace old imported transactions with manually entered transaction but I carefully look the final amount so that there were no changes/errors.
I will try to create a file reproducing the error.
